Special Academic Programs

Academic Advising Center

The Academic Advising Center assists exploratory (“Undeclared”) students to design a unique and meaningful academic experience as they explore and decide on an undergraduate major. The Center also coordinates a variety of university services, including Mandatory Advising Programs, PreProfessional Advising, Transfer Advising, and assists students experiencing academic difficulty. The Academic Advising Center provides support for professional advisors campus-wide through relevant technologies, training, and ongoing professional development opportunities. [more]

Counseling Services

The purpose of the University Counseling Center (UCC) is to facilitate and support the educational mission of the University of Utah. Chartwells Higher Education is the leading food service provider for over 250 colleges and universities nationwide. Our passion for food isn’t limited to the PHC Dining Hall or Union food court. Ethnic Student Services

The living mission of the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs (CESA) is to provide support to students of color at the University of Utah. While primarily serving the needs of African American, American Indian, Asian American, Latina-Latino, and Pacific Islander students, CESA promotes an environment of acceptance that honors all forms of diversity. Health Insurance

University of Utah sponsors a student health insurance, specifically designed for students and their dependents. The plan is available to all undergraduate students taking 6 or more credits and all graduate students enrolled for credit. [more]

Health Services

Student Health Center Services include but are not limited to: health appointments, HIV/STD Testing & Counseling Clinic, Walk-in hours for immunizations, low cost TB tests, sports medicine clinics, travel clinics, and prescription assistance. [more]

There are different tuition rates for Utah residents and for non-residents. Your initial residency classification is made when you are admitted, and will be included in your official letter of acceptance. If you are classified as a Non-resident but feel you should qualify for Resident status, you may submit an application for reclassification with the appropriate supporting documentation. [more]

The Undergraduate Bulletin is a resource for new undergraduate students to help orient you to the University of Utah. It provides a checklist to help you successfully start your journey, and contains crucial information concerning your first semester, academic advising, academic deadlines, and policies. The University Surplus and Salvage Department receives and sells University of Utah surplus property. [more]

Veterans Services

Each year, hundreds of University of Utah students use VA benefits to help pay for courses leading to University of Utah degrees, including graduate degrees. The Veteran Services unit of the Registrar’s Office provides assistance and information to our student veterans and their dependents. [more]

Wellness Connection

The Center for Student Wellness is your portal for information, resources and solutions for wellness-related issues. We offer one-stop shopping vs. searching all over campus for available resources. The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) at the University of Utah serves as the central resource for educational and support services for women. University Press

The University of Utah Press is an agency of the J. Willard Marriott Library of The University of Utah. In accordance with the mission of the University, the Press publishes and disseminates scholarly books in selected fields, as well as other printed and recorded materials of significance to Utah, the region, the country, and the world. Marriott Library

The J. Willard Marriott Library serves as the flagship academic library for the Utah State System of Higher Education. We offer services and resources that students and faculty have come to expect: research assistance, group study rooms, individual study spaces, easy access to print and electronic materials, interlibrary loan, computers, printing, and scanning. Eccles Health Sciences

The mission of the Spencer S. Research Opportunities

Office of Undergraduate Research

To support undergraduate students involvement in research, the Office of Undergraduate Research offers research grants, travel & small grants, and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), which provides undergraduate students the chance to collaborate with faculty members on cutting-edge research. Students get first-hand experience with research proposals, funding, and presentations, giving students a head start toward working in the research field of their choice. We also offer a transcript designation-the Undergraduate Research Scholars Designation (URSD)-to officially recognize students who have devoted themselves to research as an undergraduate at the U. Bennion Center Scholars

The Community Engaged Scholars Program is an academically challenging program that supports and recognizes University of Utah students in addressing community needs. Students are encouraged to apply their academic knowledge to community issues while developing leadership and organizational skills necessary for future civic involvement. [more]

International Studies

International Studies provides flexible coursework across many academic departments, is ideally suited for students interested in a double major, and students participate in study abroad or an internship as a capstone for the degree. [more]

National Student Exchange

The National Student Exchange (NSE) is a program for undergraduate exchange within the United States and Canada. Instead of crossing oceans, NSE students cross state, regional, provincial, and cultural borders. [more]

Study Abroad

The Center for Learning Abroad seeks to positively impact students, the campus, and the community by fostering connections between the University and the world. We provide global education experiences to students both on and off campus, including a wide variety of signature learning opportunities through learning abroad programs world wide. [more]

University Studies Degree

The Bachelor of University Studies (B.U.S.) program provides students with the flexibility of creating an individualized major in an area not otherwise available at the University. [more]

Western Undergraduate Exchange

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). This award represents a tuition discount for nonresident high school seniors who will be first-time entering freshmen only.  [more]
