Parks, Recreation and Tourism Program
The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Recreation aspires to enhance opportunities for students and faculty to engage in interprofessional education, interdisciplinary research, and practice within the Health Sciences Center and with the broader academic community on the University’s Main Campus. The new department, created in fall 2016, combined the program areas of Health Promotion and Education, Kinesiology (formerly Exercise and Sport Science), and Parks, Recreation, and Tourism.
As a result of the realignment, additional changes were made. Integrative Physiology is now housed within the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology. The entry-level Athletic Training Education Program is now housed in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. Therapeutic Recreation is now housed in the Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies.
