Admission Requirements
After completion of the Foundation Series requirements, students qualify as art majors and select an emphasis area.
Graduation Requirements
Students must receive a “C-” or higher in all art coursework to satisfy degree requirements. BFA Art Studio Emphases may require different grades in particular courses. See the specific BFA Art Studio emphasis for details.

First-Year Studio Courses
Major Requirements for Art - Graphic Design Emphasis
Graphic Design is a 4-year, sequential program. Students must complete the Art Studio Foundation series (listed above) and an additional 3-years of graphic design requirement (listed below). Acceptance into this emphasis is through portfolio review only. Graphic Design students must receive a “C” or higher in ART 3610.
Sophomore Year
At the end of the Spring Semester of sophomore year, graphic design students will undergo a review that will determine continuance into the junior year of the program. In order to be eligible for continuation into the Junior year, students are required to: 1) earn a 2.7 grade point average (B-) in their Sophomore courses; 2) complete a self-evaluation form; and 3) attend an in-person portfolio review.
Junior and Senior Years
In the Junior and Senior years of the Graphic Design program, students will complete ART 3650, ART 3680, ART 4690 and ART 4830 and 6 advanced graphic design studio courses, chosen from the list below.
