Major Requirements for Chemistry

Minimum Major Hours: 79 - 83
Graduation Requirements:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative gpa of 2.00 in all CHEM, MATH, PHYS, and BIOL courses.
- All major courses must be completed with a C- or better.
- Successful completion of the comprehensive Chemistry exam.
Honors in Chemistry
Students seeking an HBA or HBS in Chemistry must complete:
Chemistry Core
(Complete 11 courses) Undergraduate Seminar
Students are recommended to take this seminar during their freshmen or sophomore year at the University of Utah.
Scientific Writing Requirement
Chemistry majors are expected to take the chemistry section of Scientific Writing, WRTG 3014. This course should be taken after passing WRTG 2010 and before taking CHEM 3000 (Quantitative Analysis), preferably in a student’s second year.
