*Note: Additional non-credit hour education activites are required for completion.

Admission Requirements

The Graduate Certificate in Global Medicine is open to matriculated students in good standing in the M.D., M.D./Ph.D., M.D. /M.S.P.H. or M.D. /M.P.H. programs at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

Graduation Requirements

Completion of all courses and activities required for the Graduate Certificate in Global Medicine and completion of M.D. program.

Independent Learning


  • Student Global Health Initiative (SGHI) membership and participation for 2 semesters

or

  • Submission of a project to the Bench-2-Bench Competition in the Global Health category

Capstone Project


Issues in Clinical Care - White Poster

Medical students enrolled in MD ID 6540 - Global Health Elective  will prepare and present a poster related to an issue or problem in clinical care as their Graduate Certificate in Global
Medicine Capstone Project.

Global Health Research - Scholarly Poster

Medical students enrolled in MD ID 6520 - Global Health Scholarship Elective  or PBHLT 6531 - International Fieldwork in Public Health  will prepare and present a scientific poster related to their research as their Graduate Certificate in Global Medicine Capstone Project.
