The Graudate Certificate in Urban Design serves three audiences: (1) graduate students in Architecture or City & Metropolitan Planning wanting to supplement their professional degree programs with an emphasis in urban design; (2) students in releated fields wanting urban design literacy and studio exposure, who expect to interact with the built environment professions; and (3) professionals and community activists, returning to the university for supplemental graduate work in urban desgin, who want to interact with the built environment professions and participate in urban desgin processes.
Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Urban Design must have a bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited institution of higher learning, provide evidence of a 3.00 undergraduate GPA, submit an application to the College of Architecture + Planning together with two letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose. Applicants who are admitted graduate students at the University must have a 3.00 GPA in their current degree program and submit a current DARS. Current graduate students in the College of Architecture + Planning do not need to submit letters of recommendation. A new or re-entering graduate student must establish status as a non-matriculated student with the Office of Admissions by submitting an application, application fee, and transcripts.
