Minimum Degree Hours: 122
Minimum Major Hours: 46

Graduation Requirements:

  • 18 semester hours in ANTH courses must be completed at the U of U.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 in all ANTH courses.
  • All major courses must be completed with a C or better.
  • A minimum of 34 hours in ANTH courses are required.

Nine Additional Anthropology hours required: This can include ANY Anthropology courses not taken above; However, you can only take a MAXIMUM of TWO courses in the 2000-level, ANTH 3969 - Special Topics  courses and ANTH 4950 - Undergraduate Research .

Allied Hours


In addition to the anthropology credits, a minimum of 12 semester credit hours is required from related areas of study. All courses from biology, economics, ethnic studies, environmental and sustainability studies, family and consumer studies, gender studies, geography, geology, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, social and behavioral science, sociology, and urban ecology are acceptable. Courses cross-listed with anthropology are also acceptable. Other courses accepted with departmental approval.

Honors Required Courses


Students who complete the Honors Degree requirements AND maintain a 3.5 gpa will recieve the Honors Degree (H.B.S or H.B.A.) designation on their diploma.

Electives


Complete 3 additional honors (HONOR or HON attribute) courses.

Thesis


Complete 1 Honors Thesis course (DEPT 4999) in your major department.

Final thesis must be approved by Honors Advisor.
