Minimum Major Hours: 56

Graduation Requirements

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative gpa of 2.3 in all mathematics courses.
  • All mathematics courses must be completed with a C or better and may only be attempted up to 3 times.
  • A C- or better is required in allied courses.
  • Complete at least 18 upper division credit hours of University of Utah mathematics courses.

Graduation Requirements for students completing an honors degree:

  • Students pursuing this degree must first be admitted to the Honors College.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in courses required for the major.
  • All major courses must be completed with a B or better and may only be attempted up to 3 times.
  • Complete at least 18 upper division credit hours of University of Utah mathematics courses.
  • Complete Math 3000 (Undergraduate Colloquium) in addition to the regular course requirements.

Required Courses

Electives


Complete 7 elective courses in MATH. Select from MATH 2200 - Introduction to Discrete Mathematics  or any MATH course numbered 4200 or higher, except those excluded below.

MATH 4910, 4950, 4999, 5000, 5155, 5165, 5270, 5900, 5910, 5960, or 5969 may not be used for this requirement.

MATH 5910 - Supervised Reading  must be approved in advance by the undergraduate advisor.

 

Honors Required Courses


Students who complete the Honors Degree requirements AND maintain a 3.5 gpa will recieve the Honors Degree (H.B.S or H.B.A.) designation on their diploma.

Electives


Complete 3 additional honors (HONOR or HON attribute) courses.

Thesis


Complete 1 Honors Thesis course (DEPT 4999) in your major department.

Final thesis must be approved by Honors Advisor.
