Description
This course introduces students to linguistic concepts relevant to the study of language and culture. Students will explore language issues such as language versus dialect, bilingualism, and the politics of language standardization. By not focusing on any single national tradition, the course is intended to provide all students the tools needed for upper division courses regardless of area of focus.
