PSY6250 - Applied Statistics (3 cr)
PsychologySB - Coll of Soc & Behavioral Sci
Description
In today’s data-driven world, knowing how to analyze and interpret data is an essential skill across nearly every field—from psychology and business to health, policy, and technology. This course goes beyond “plugging numbers into software” to help students truly understand what their analyses mean. Through hands-on examples and interactive projects, students will learn when and how valid conclusions can be drawn from data, and when statistics can be misleading. Students will explore core statistical concepts, develop practical skills using common statistical software, and gain confidence applying these tools to real-world questions. By the end of the course, students will be able to evaluate research findings, design sound analyses for their own projects or theses, and communicate results effectively. This course is ideal for students planning to apply quantitative reasoning in research, or enter careers that value data-driven decision-making.
