ME EN6011 - Additive Manuf: Polymer (3 cr)
Mechanical EngineeringEN - J & M Price College of Eng.
Description
This course introduces the general concept, the latest development, and the emerging applications of polymer additive manufacturing technologies. The class starts with fundamental polymer chemistry and polymerization procedures to build complex-geometry 3D polymer components, investigate different polymer AM processes, distinguish their advantages and disadvantages, identify applications, and explore future quality-improvement directions. The class has a lab session that is intended to get hands-on experience with polymer behavior, possible failure, and optimization strategies during AM processes. The goal is to accommodate polymers’ characteristics for successful AM applications.
