Description
This immersive lab introduces foundational principles of adventure and experiential Recreational Therapy. Across intensive, hands-on sessions, students participate in adventure-based and experiential learning activities commonly used in RT practice while examining key concepts of experiential learning theory, facilitation methods, group development, and ethical outdoor practice. Emphasis is placed on active participation, accessibility, risk management, and introductory facilitation skills. Through guided participation and structured reflection, students gain exposure to core modalities used in adventure-based RT while exploring their therapeutic potential in supporting teamwork and meaningful group engagement. The course culminates in a student-led facilitation experience.
