This course focuses on selected topics and representative works of the nineteenth century, introducing literary and/or visual works in their cultural context. The course is reading- and writing-intensive. Students will practice different kinds of textual analysis as well as actively participate in class discussions.

Prerequisite or Corequisite: "C" or better in FRNCH 4600.
