Description

The course focuses on developing cultural proficiency and intermediate high to advanced low-level language skills in the Spanish language, enabling students to communicate in various target language contexts. The course aims at further developing students’ language skills through an advanced acquisition of vocabulary, grammar, and cultural knowledge that will reinforce their understanding of diverse life experiences and facilitate fluent, appropriate, and culturally nuanced language interpretation and use. This course introduces students to four types of writing: description, narration, exposition and argumentation. Native-speaking students or those who have acquired proficiency through extended residence (e.g. native speakers, military service, religious service over an extended period) are ineligible to take this class.

Prerequisites: SPAN 2020 OR SPAN 3116 OR SPAN 3117 OR SPAN 3118 OR Language Placement Test in 3000+ OR Score of 5 on AP Spanish Language Exam.

SPAN 3020 taken concurrently.
