Overview
The Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations (QAMO) major teaches students how to use economics to solve business problems. Students learn how markets work, how to think strategically, and how to analyze data --- all with an extra large helping of quantitative and analytical skills. This foundational QAMO toolkit is valued by employers in a range of industries, and QAMO alumni put their skills and knowledge to work in a wide variety of career paths. QAMO is designed to be combined, and most QAMO majors graduate with a double-major, a minor or an emphasis in a business discipline. The QAMO major was designed in cooperation with the University of Utah’s Department of Economics, and students work with professors from both the Eccles School and the Economics Department.
QAMO program requirements include two semesters of college calculus plus statistics and probability. Microeconomics, game theory, and econometrics are the intellectual focus of the major, and these ideas are developed in core courses and then used throughout the program.
