Any course cross-listed with a core class may be used to fulfill that requirement

Students must complete a program of study form and have it signed by 3 faculty members before earning 15 graduate credit hours.

For breadth, students must have courses from at least 4 different professors on their program of study. At most 6 hours of graduate transfer credit from another institution are accepted.

Students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on all program of study courses. Students must receive a grade of a B or better in all core courses.

The student must complete the requirements of the Program of Study and also pass a capstone exam.

The purpose of the capstone project and accompanying capstone exam is for the students to demonstrate mastery of the course knowledge, and also the capability to integrate topics into a cohesive. In the students’ final semester, they select a real-world problem and apply knowledge from three courses to create a solution. Near the end of the semester, the student has a capstone exam, which is a 20 - 25 minute presentation of their efforts. This presentation must include knowledge from at least one class from the core engineering quantitative problem solving. Additionally, the presentation must discuss the student's ethical considerations along with global, societal, and economic impact of the proposed solution.
