Program Description

The BFA in Studio Art at the University of Utah is a dynamic, interdisciplinary program that prepares students to become innovative artists, critical thinkers, and cultural leaders. Rooted in a rigorous studio practice and enriched by a strong foundation in art history, theory, and contemporary discourse, the program empowers students to explore diverse media, challenge conventions, and engage with the world through creative expression.

Students explore within a range of studio focus areas—including painting and drawing, illustration, sculpture intermedia, ceramics, printmaking, photography and digital imaging, book arts, digital media, and art education, while also having the flexibility to work across disciplines. The curriculum emphasizes experimentation, conceptual development, and professional practices, equipping graduates with the skills and confidence to thrive in today’s evolving creative landscape.
