Program Description

The University of Utah’s School of Dance, consistently recognized as one of the top programs in the country and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD), offers a BFA in Contemporary Dance for students interested in pursuing their passion for creative expression. The comprehensive curriculum integrates the rigors of intellectual exploration, technical discipline, and creative investigation to prepare dancers for the opportunities and challenges of the profession. Coursework includes dance techniques, choreography, dance teaching, dance history, music, kinesiology, and career preparation. The degree culminates with a choreographic senior thesis project. Additionally, the School of Dance offers a robust guest artist program ensuring engagement with the profession and provides extensive performance and choreography opportunities.

Program Admissions Requirements

Admission into the School of Dance is a two-step process: 1) Submit an application for admission to the University through the Admissions Office, and 2) Submit an audition application and audition for the School of Dance either in person or by video.
