Program Description

The primary goal of the Neuroscience Program at Utah is to develop well-rounded scientists who are passionate about science and will become the next generation of leaders in our society. The Neuroscience PhD Program at the University of Utah offers rigorous training through a combination of coursework, research training, mentoring, and professional development. More than 80 program faculty from 26 participating departments provide broad expertise from molecular and cellular neuroscience, to systems and cognitive neuroscience. Students receive hands-on training and mentorship within a world-class research environment, collegial and collaborative mentorship and a vibrant research community.

Approved Combined/Dual Degrees

Application for the combined degree (http://medicine.utah.edu/) should be made at the time of application to the medical school. Ph.D. training begins after successful completion of both the second year of medical school and Step I of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Application for the combined degree should be made at the time of application to medical school.

Program Admissions Requirements

All applicants must submit college transcripts; three letters of recommendation; and a statement of career interests.
Applications are due December 1 for entrance the following August.
