Program Description

Our mission is to train professionals who are prepared to conduct scientific research exploring the physiological, molecular, and behavioral aspects of nutrition and metabolic health, and our faculty are leaders in the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge in these areas. Through interdisciplinary education and research, our program prepares students to advance scientific discovery and disseminate the latest findings to the public by way of professional publications, classroom education, and community outreach. 

Program Admissions Requirements

The Nutrition and Integrative Physiology Department's PhD program has a rolling admission process and will accept applications at any time for either Fall or Spring semester entry. Applications are submitted using the Graduate School FutureU portal. Students must have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in nutrition, physiology, or a related field in the health sciences. Students must provide the required documents:

  1. A copy of all post-secondary transcripts

  2. Prerequisites completed with a GPA > 3.0

  3. Letter of support from an identified faculty mentor expressing a willingness to support the student's research and stipend

  4. Curriculum vitae or resume

  5. Statement of purpose

  6. Three letters of recommendation

  7. Test of Spoken English (TSE), is required only for those whose native language is not English

    a. TOEFL: 80 or higher

    b. IELTS: 6.5 or higher

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are optional.
