Program Description

Physics trains you to be a problem solver: to look for the essential elements in a problem, to learn how to solve challenging problems, and to use many tools including mathematics and computational methods. You will also gain an understanding of how the world works at a fundamental level; the physical laws that govern everything from driving a car to falling in a black hole. You can choose an emphasis to specialize in applied physics, biomedical physics, computational physics, astrophysics, or prepare for physics graduate school with the comprehensive emphasis.
A physics degree trains you for a wide range of careers or graduate school options. Physics students go on to work in engineering and computational careers as well as many other well-paid careers. Physics students also go on to professional schools (Law, Medicine) and of course to graduate school in related fields, Physics, Astronomy, Medical Physics, Optics, and many different engineering and computational fields.
