Program Description

The Artificial Intelligence minor prepares students with basic skills and competence in artificial intelligence (AI). The discipline studies the automation of tasks that usually require human-like intelligence, such as learning, perception, reasoning, and decision-making. It fuses skills of computer programming and machine learning. It leverages representative data and experiences to provide sensible and automated interactions -- through language, via physical devices such as robots, within games such as chess, and generating feasible outcomes for design. The minor complements an undergraduate degree in a field that works with data, language, design, or computers, and enhances their studies with the tools to apply AI towards those goals. Students in the minor will also learn about ethical considerations in applying AI in a responsible way. These AI skills are useful in a wide variety of occupations within the sciences, engineering, medicine, policy, the creative sector and more.
