Students will demonstrate understanding of the NASW Code of Ethics, relevant laws and regulations, related to social work values and how they apply to practice in their respective field agencies.
Students will use reflection and self-regulation to separate personal and professional values.
Students will be introduced to how conscious use of self and positionality affect the development of an effective and inclusive helping relationship at the micro, mezzo and macro levels of intervention
Students will learn how their various agencies practice the use of technology ethically and appropriately.
Students will learn ways to use supervision to guide professional judgment and behavior.
Students will demonstrate understanding of the importance of anti oppression, diversity, equity and inclusion in micro, mezzo, and macro practice.
Students will reflect on their ability to engage their clients as experts in their own lives while managing the influence of their personal biases and values in working with clients.
Students will begin to understand the need for advocacy for social, economic, and environmental justice in their social work practice.
Students will begin using theory and practice experience to inform scientific inquiry and research as it relates to best practices in work with clients at the macro, mezzo and micro levels.
Students will learn how social welfare and economic policies impact the delivery of and access to social services
Students will learn basic engagement techniques and use empathy, conscious use of self, reflection, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse clients.
Students will learn basic assessment techniques to collect and organize assessment information from clients and constituencies.
Students will begin applying knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, and person in environment in the analysis of client information
Students will utilize knowledge of human behavior in the social environment, person in environment, and other frameworks to critically identify and implement interventions to achieve practice goals.
