Psychology of Reading
Description
This course will approach the study of basic processes in reading from a cognitive psychology perspective. We will discuss prominent theories in discourse comprehension and sentence processing, and we will review evidence obtained with multiple methodologies. Topics include: models of discourse comprehension and sentence processing, inferential processing, the roles of memory and attention during reading, individual differences in basic reading processes, and applications to educational practice.
