Description

The course introduces students to the practices and principles of art education. Students examine: the historical and philosophical foundations of art education; current issues in art education; theories of art education; the major pedagogical approaches to art education; and human development and the arts. The course provides students with an understanding of art education as an important stand-alone discipline as well as a discipline that can be integrated across the curriculum. BFA review will be included in this class for majors moving on in the program.
