Description
This class will focus on fundamental mountaineering skills such as steep snow climbing, ice axe technique, footwork, self-arrest, route finding in avalanche terrain, construction of snow anchors, relevant technical rope management skills, and winter camping. Content will be learned and applied over one classroom session and an overnight two-day field experience in a high alpine environment. Leave No Trace skills appropriate for alpine environments and information regarding natural resource management will also be covered in the course.
