1. Describe the prevalence, etiology, diagnostic criteria, pathology and symptomatology, recommended course of treatment, and prognosis for a variety of disabling conditions commonly treated in physical medicine.

2. Recognize various medical and disabling conditions, disorders and impairments affecting the physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning of individuals with physical, neurological and neuromuscular conditions and disabilities across the lifespan.

3. Utilize activity and task analysis as a function of treatment modification and implementation.

4. Create a discharge plan for an individual with a physical, neurological or neuromuscular disability who has received RT services.

5. Demonstrate the principles of establishing effective therapeutic/helping relationships with individuals with physical, neurological and neuromuscular conditions through client assessment.

6. Develop, implement, and evaluate the outcomes of an evidence-based treatment plan for an individual with a physical, neurological or neuromuscular condition.

7. Compare and contrast accessibility guidelines for inclusive recreation and community participation.

8. Analyze accessibility of a recreation facility and make appropriate recommendations based on inadequate accessibility.

9. Identify the role of the RT as an advocate for client’s/ resident’s/ individual’s rights.

10. Determine relevant assistive techniques and devices to facilitate appropriate treatment interventions.

11. Practice developing and using various assessment tools appropriate for use in recreational therapy practice with individuals with physical, neurological, and neuromuscular disabilities.

12. Identify diversity issues effect on assessment, treatment planning and implmentation, and adjustment for individuals with physical, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.

13. Recognize regulatory and legislative policies that influence recreational therapy practice when working with individuals with physical, neurological and neurological conditions.

14. Conduct basic skills needed when providing community integration interventions or community-based programming; a. Conduct transfers and monitor seating/positioning for adaptive recreation participation.
