Actualize & Contribute

A contextual & theoretical understanding of the social and cultural forces that impact the transition to adulthood among youth in contemporary US society. It therefore encourages students to incorporate systems thinking to understand how historical, structural, and cultural forces have affected the meaning and experience of adulthood over time and across groups and how it affects their own transition to adulthood. Students engage with university and community resources and engage in in-class focus groups with their classmates to build upon their own personal experiences to navigate the transition to adulthood. Students are enabled to choose the depth of their engagement in various topics based on their interest and needs with expands their personal capacity to guide their own learning.
