Description
Provides foundational preparation in client assessment, documentation, and evaluation within the recreational therapy process. Emphasis is placed on developing professional judgment and clinical reasoning required to translate assessment data into meaningful treatment planning and outcome evaluation.
Learning experiences include designing assessment protocols; conducting client assessment through standardized tools, interviews, observation, and record review; and applying assessment findings to treatment planning, documentation, and evaluation practices. Attention is given to client assessed outcomes and their role in measuring progress and therapeutic effectiveness. Instruction also includes application of the World Health Organization International Classification of Functioning and Disability as a framework for understanding function, participation, and disability in assessment and evaluation.
