THEA3850 - Writing About Theatre (3 cr)

Theatre FA - College of Fine Arts

Description

In the performing arts, written and oral communication offstage can be of equal importance to the words performed onstage. Theatre professionals write and speak in a variety of capacities: educating audiences, applying for funding, presenting designs to colleagues, writing for academic journals, and more. Using conventions and content specific to theatre, this course will introduce students to skills for communicating in and about drama and performance. The specific plays and performances included may vary by instructor and address topics such as Ethnic American Theatre and 20th Century Political Performance, allowing a thorough investigation of the literature and theoretical approaches required for effective communication in the theatre.
