Children's and Young Adult Literature in the Schools
Description
This course aims to deepen your understanding of the field of children’s and young adult literature, what it includes, what makes it unique, what makes a particular book a strong example of solid children's young adult literature, and how to use this knowledge to help you purposefully select the best possible texts for your students and your school use. Thus, it simultaneously addresses the role and importance of motivation and engagement in adolescent and child development, and how they occur during your planning and implementation of literacy activities.
