The Division of Games is an interdisciplinary teaching program, housed in the College of Architecture + Planning. The work we do in the Division of Games encompasses the wide array of disciplines that make up video game development, and students pursuing these various disciplines work closely together throughout their academic careers. The partnership between disciplines reflects the current state of the interactive entertainment business world, and our students leave the program prepared to work effectively in a team environment.
Undergraduate Program
The Division of Games currently offers a B.S. in Games degree, a Games Minor, and an Games emphasis through The School of Computing for Computer Science and Software Development majors. These degrees are intended for full-time students who want to increase their understanding of this unique discipline while benefiting from the cross-disciplinary methodology integral to the Games program.
From the beginning of their coursework, students across disciplines (which include design, art, technical art, and programming) take classes together and focus on increasing their skills in discipline-specific courses, as well as project-based classes. During their final year, these students then come together in a senior capstone project where they build a video game from the ground up in large teams.

Graduate Program
The Division of Games: Master Games Studio (EAE: MGS) is a truly unique graduate program. It was designed in close collaboration with our industry partners and offers students a one-of-a-kind advanced degree in game development with five tracks to choose from: Game Arts, Technical Art, Game Engineering, Game Design, and Game Production.
Students enrolled in the EAE: MGS are typically interested in pursuing a career in interactive entertainment, and our program is built around this goal. Not only do we offer a world-class education from a leading research university, but we also offer the opportunity to develop and enhance a professional game portfolio.
MBA/MEAE - Master of Business Administration and Master of Entertainment Arts & Engineering.
The purpose of this dual MBA/MEAE is to combine students’ applied interests and training in video game development with the comprehensive business training gained through an MBA program. As there are many complementary intellectual and professional benefits associated with studying game development and business administration together this degree aims to provide a robust arena for that work.
Students can complete the MBA/MEAE dual-degree program in approximately three years of year-round study. Students will complete the requirements for both degrees with approximately 84 credit hours.
