Program Description

Integrated Oral Radiology is designed for students who are considering oral radiology as a full-time career or as an adjunct to general practice. Pathways of Integrated Oral Radiology will allow the student interested in advancing their knowledge of oral radiology, especially 3D digital imaging, as well as its integration with existing and emerging digital technologies. Opportunities will be provided to study and engage in activities that will lead to a better working knowledge of how to utilize imaging technology to enhance all areas of dental practice. The opportunity to gain experience in acquiring, interpreting, and applying CBCT imaging will be at the heart of this pathway. Exposure to medical imaging modalities will also be part of this pathway. To develop experience integrating CBCT imaging with intraoral scanning, milling and 3D printing to make surgical guides, occlusal guards, milled abutments, etc. is a goal of this pathway. D3 and D4 participants in this pathway will have an opportunity to help in the spring semester basic radiology lab as teaching assistants. Possible opportunities to be involved with imaging related clinical research exist for those interested.
