Program Graduation Requirements
A total of 30 credits from science core courses.
A minimum of 42 credits of BIOL courses.
4 approved BIOL lab courses, representing 5 lab units.
A minimum of 16 upper-division (3000-5999 level) biology credits.
21 credits in BIOL courses must be completed at the U of U.
2 BIOL lab courses representing 3 lab units must be completed at the U of U.
All major courses must be completed with a C- or better.

Honors Requirements

Students may earn two emphases:
Note - admission to some graduate programs or career paths may require additional organic chemistry and labs.
Note - admission to some graduate programs or career paths may require physics labs.
Students are required to complete 2 labs for a total of 3 lab units.
Lab units are determined by the department and are not necessarily the same as credit hours. Students should work with the department to determine how many lab units their course choices are assigned.
Complete at least 2 courses from BIOL 5000 - 5999.
Courses must be at least 2 credit each.
This area cleared with completion of an emphasis.
Courses cannot be used to fulfill multiple BIOL requirements.

Honors Research
Complete 3 semesters of research experience. The Biology Honors Faculty Advisor must approve research options. Students may opt to earn credit for their research by taking BIOL 4995 - Biology Honors Research or BIOL 4955 - Individual Research.
Honors Thesis
Students must complete 3 semesters of Honors Research prior to enrolling in BIOL 4999.
