Exams, homework, presentations, written reports, and other student products will be used to asses each learning outcome using the courses in that table. Each learning outcome for each emphasis is associated with a course using a color and numerical code, as shown in the sheet.

0 = This course does not service this learning objective of this course and will not be used to assess outcomes.
1 = This course is "Supplemental" to this emphasis but may be used to assess this learning outcome.
2 = This course is "Core" to this emphasis and assess this learning outcome..
3 = This course is "Required" for all students taking this emphasis and is used to assess this learning
5 = This course might count as a supplemental or core course for this learning objective in this emphasis, depending on its central project. Decided upon by the associate chair. For each learning objective for each emphasis, this category could be given to around 15 courses, from independent study to co-op industry opportunities.
10 = This is a core chemical engineering course that all our students take but it also facilitates the learning objective of this emphasis and may be used to assess the associated learning outcome.

A student perusing any of the emphasis must complete all required courses and at least one course associated with each learning outcome. To summarize the spreadsheet and demonstrate the number of courses available to students in each learning objective category:
