Program Graduation Requirements

The Graduate Certificate in Business Studies with a focus on healthcare quality management is designed to give students an opportunity to gain exposure to topics most essential for managing quality of care and patient experience. The Certificate requires 15 credits:

Core Courses (9 credit hours): (to be taken in the order indicated below)

  • MHA 6540 Managerial Accounting & Finance for Healthcare (3.0) (spring)

  • OIS 6420 Healthcare Quality Management (1.5) (spring)

  • MHA 6850 Patient Safety (1.5) (spring)

  • MHA 6850 Healthcare Population Management (3.0) (fall)

Elective Courses (6 credit hours):

  • MHA 6530 Healthcare Administration (3.0) (fall)

  • MGT 6540 Business Ethics (1.5) (spring)

  • MHA 6804 Principle-Based Leadership (1.5) (spring)

  • MHA 6805 Integrative Experience (3.0) (spring)

  • (Prerequisites: MHA 6540, OIS 6520, both MHA 6850)

Certificate Type

Embedded, Stand Alone

Embedded certificates are conferred concurrently with a degree.
Stand Alone certificates are conferred to a student who is not seeking a degree.
