Program Description

This certificate is designed to provide students with exposure (i.e. a basic fluency) to the principles, issues, and tools within the field of data science. Starting from a base of only college algebra, and not requiring calculus, this certificate provides familiarity in statistics and programming, as well as skills in data wrangling and data ethics, and the application of these skills in at least one domain.

Program Admissions Requirements

The certificate will be available to all matriculated University of Utah undergraduate students who have completed College Algebra or equivalent. It will be open to non-matriculated students who enter the program as well, given that the university allows for such a mechanism. These students should be expected to have some college experience.
