  • All pre-major and major courses must be completed with a C- or better. 

  • Studio coursework is sequential and must be completed as such. Students will be placed in studio each semester. 

  • Third and Fourth year courses must be done in residency at the University of Utah unless approved by the Chair. 

  • Coursework 10 years old may not be accepted toward a degree.

The Open Investigation emphasis is for students who would like to generate their own path with in the Design Studies emphasis. Students must select a minimum of 6 courses (18 credits) to complete their degree. Students should submit an "Open Investigations Proposal" to the division chair at the end of the Sophomore year. A proposal template is available from the division.

Students must be admitted to the Studio Practice emphases. The application is open for Design Sophomores at the end of the Spring Semester. The division will notify students of the full admissions process in the Spring Sophomore Studios.
