Environmental Humanities and Transformative Justice

Apply the methods of the humanities (close reading, critical evaluation of sources and contexts, synthesis of information, consideration of divergent points of view) to the analysis of environmental challenges

Using frameworks from the fields of ethnic studies, gender studies, and philosophical ethics, consider the impacts of environmental challenges on diverse populations and grasp critical issues of race, class, and gender with regard to matters of environmental justice

Collect, interpret, evaluate, and integrate relevant information regarding environmental concerns and inequities

Communicate clearly in oral, written, and/or visual forms about these challenges and solutions to general audiences

Understand and analyze the influence of different ideologies on environmental perspectives
