Program Graduation Requirements
Program requires a minimum of 33 semester hours consisting of 27 hours of coursework and 6 hours of thesis credit toward completion of a final project or thesis. M.A. students must demonstrate standard language proficiency, or the equivalent of one year's college study and M.S. students must complete three research methods courses. Students must maintain a 3.3 GPA throughout the program.
EHUM6860 and EHUM6805 are required only for students who receive funding for community-engaged research.
Students electing the thesis option are required to complete a minimum of 27 hours of course work and six hours of thesis credit. The student will prepare a thesis prospectus in consultation with his or her adviser and the supervisory committee. A public defense of the final thesis is required and the thesis must be submitted according to the Graduate School requirements and filed with the graduate advisor.
Students electing the project option are required to complete a minimum of 27 hours of course work and six hours of thesis credit. The student will prepare a project prospectus in consultation with his or her adviser and the supervisory committee. A public defense of the final project is required and the final project must be filed with the graduate advisor.
Students who select the non-thesis option must complete a minimum of 33 semester hours of course work and pass a comprehensive examination administered by the supervisory committee. Election of the non-thesis option must be made and approved by the supervisory committee prior to the completion of 24 hours of course work. The comprehensive examination consists of a six-hour written examination and a two-hour oral examination or defense.
