Program Description
French BA students gain deep understanding of language, literature, arts, and cultures of the Francophone world.
A significant focus of the program is the study of French and Francophone literature, spanning major works from the Middle Ages to contemporary authors. Students engage in critical analysis of poetry, prose, drama, and other literary forms, examining themes such as identity, colonialism, resistance, and human rights. These studies foster an appreciation of the artistic and intellectual contributions of Francophone writers and their impact on global culture.
The program emphasizes linguistic mastery, cultural competence, and critical thinking, preparing students for global opportunities in fields such as education, business, translation, and international relations. Whether you choose to major or minor in French Studies, the program offers a comprehensive pathway to fluency and a deeper understanding of the Francophone world.
