Analyze the literature, language, and cultures of the French-speaking world drawing upon an ability to evaluate and synthesize relevant primary, critical, and theoretical sources.

Demonstrate the ability to articulate and defend in speech and writing clear and orderly thought on literary, cultural, and linguistic topics.

The major teaches students to analyze French and Francophone culture and texts and to express their understanding of them clearly and articulately, with advanced written and communicative skills. These skills of analysis and expression apply generally to most workplace settings. For jobs requiring French, students will be ready to function at a effective level of communicative competence including in immersion settings.
