Complete 12 credits in a minimum of two areas of interest. See advisor for list of courses.
Courses that are used as General Education courses will NOT double count towards Allied Courses.
First-Year and Transfer Students
Students may apply to the Honors College within their general CommonApp admissions application to the University of Utah. Students will be required to submit responses to additional writing prompts. Admission is competitive. Incoming first-year and transfer students may apply for Fall, Spring, or Summer term admission. Continuing Students
University of Utah students may apply to the Honors College at two distinct entry points.
1) Following a successful first semester at the University.
2) After completing 60 credits, students may apply to the Upper Division Pathway.

Upper Division & Transfer Students
Transfer credits are not accepted, but students who join Honors through the Upper Division or Transfer Pathway receive a 3 course reduction toward the required Honors coursework. For more information on the Upper Division and Transfer Pathways, please speak with Honors College Admissions or Advising.
Students who complete the Honors Degree requirements AND maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher will receive the Honors Degree (HBS, HBA, HBFA, or HBSW). See Honors College for more information.
Earn at least 3 credits form HONOR.
These credits cannot be used to fulfill other Honors requirements.
Honors Thesis course (4999) in your major department. Final thesis must be approved by Thesis Mentor/Supervisor, Department Honors Liaison, Department Chair, and Honors College Dean.
Complete at least 9 credits from the following types of courses: HONOR subject or HON attribute.
