Program Description

The program of study for the MSGIS includes 6 core courses, 2 technical courses, and 2 application-oriented courses. The MSGIS program includes a capstone project requiring the students to apply aspects of the curriculum to the analysis of a real-world problem. Students assemble a portfolio demonstrating mastery of selected GIS skills.

Program Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0

  • Prerequisites or proficiency in Intro to Geo-Programming (GEOG 3180 or Equivalent), Intro to GIS (GEOG 3100 or Equivalent), Advanced Methods in GIS (GEOG 4140 or Equivalent), and Geographical Analysis (GEOG 3020 or Equivalent) or upper division basic statistics course.
