Program Description
The Master of Arts degree program provides general competence in a selected field of study and substantive training as a research historian. The MA differs from the MS in requiring proficiency in a foreign language and an intensive research experience. The MA is normally a degree preparatory for doctoral work. The MA in US History is a research intensive, non-thesis degree; in all other fields, the MA requires completion of a thesis.
Program Admissions Requirements
Those who hold a B.A. or B.S. from an accredited college or university and who have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above are eligible for admission to the Master's Program.
In addition to the graduate school application forms, all applicants must submit a verbal and quantitative GRE score above the 55th percentile, Statement of Purpose, a writing sample, and three letters of recommendation.
The deadline for all application materials is January 15th.
