Embedded certificates are conferred concurrently with a degree.
Stand Alone certificates are conferred to a student who is not seeking a degree.

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:
AND
Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:
Earn at least 14 credits from the following:
  • Complete 14 hour(s) with a grade of B- or better in each course. Other courses can be used with approval from Dr. Meek (meek@mech.utah.edu) or Dr. Minor (minor@mech.utah.edu). Graduate students should enroll in the 6000-level equivalents when available.

  • The Mechanical Engineering Department’s Mechatronics Committee must approve a mechatronics project, which must be completed as part of the requirements for the Mechatronics Certificate. Each student’s project must include the following: Use of micro-controller-based or embedded controllers; Mechanical and electrical component design such as actuators, sensors, signal conditioning, and mechanisms; Use of sensors and actuators for feedback-based control
