Program Description

The Digital Dentistry program is designed for dental professionals who desire to learn about cutting age technologies. The Digital Dentistry program is intended to assist dental professionals in the expertise and adoption of in-office digital dentist equipment to meet the needs of patients. Students will gain the skills required to operate this equipment and become successful in the adoption of this new technology. The Digital Dentistry program is a part-time on-line higher education program that is conducive to dentists who are already in practice.

The program utilizes a sequencing and stackable model where student's complete coursework for a Certificate in Foundational Digital Dentistry with the option of transitioning into a Master of Digital Dentistry through completion of an additional 21-credit hours to include an independent project.

Program Admissions Requirements

Admission is possible through 2 tracks.

1) Admission to directly matriculate into the graduate degree (Master of Digital Dentistry)

OR

2) Completion of, or anticipated completion of, the Graduate Certificate in Foundational Digital Dentistry at the University of Utah School of Dentistry

The following requirements must be fulfilled by all applicants to the program. Students that have been admitted to the Graduate Certificate, and found to be in good standing in the program, can elect to matriculate into the Master of Digital Dentistry program without a new application with approval of the Program Director.

a. A DDS or DMD degree or equivalent (international students) from a pass/fail or graded program with a pass in all coursework from a pass/fail program or a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher from a graded program, is required to apply for our Master's program.

b, Application through the University of Utah Apply Yourself (AY) online application system.

c. For domestic applicants the application fee is $55, for international applicants, the fee is $65. You can pay your fee online through the AY system.

d. All applicants will be asked to upload an unofficial copy of their academic transcripts when completing the application online. Current students or graduates of the University of Utah will not be required to submit their U of U transcripts.

e. Submission of the standardized application with personal statement and letters of reference.

f. Selection by the Admissions Committee 

Continuation in the program is contingent on the following: 

a. Maintaining a GPA of >3.0 
b. Meeting the benchmarks for completing program assessments 
c. Maintaining professionalism standards for the University of Utah School of Dentistry 
d. Participating fully in all aspects of academic and clinical activities  
e. Successfully completing all requirements established by the Course Director
