Program Graduation Requirements
All major courses must be taken for a letter grade. Students can take gen eds CR/NC if they follow University guidelines.
Courses may be repeated only once; students must petition to retake a class a third time.
A passing grade for this major is a C or better in all major classes.
Students must complete a total of 32 credit hours of ABET Science and Math credits
Students must complete a total of 48 credit hours of ABET Engineering credits

Students may earn two emphases:
Cleared if student completes an emphasis.
MSE 5050 or MET E 5800 courses are special topics and will vary each semester. Students may take multiple sections of MSE 5050 or MET E 5800 to fulfill the tech elective requirement, so long as the same topic is not repeated.
Beyond the courses listed below, courses listed above in Section 1 can be used to fulfill a Section 3 technical elective requirement. Students may also consider 5000-level (2-3 credits) courses offered in other Engineering or Science departments related to the study of Materials Science and Engineering. All course not in this section (or Section 1), must be approved before registration by the MSE Academic Advisor to count towards a Section 2 technical elective.
