Program Description
The BA/BS in Theatre is a dynamic and flexible degree ideal for enterprising students interested in all aspects of live performance. In addition to taking foundational courses in acting, design, history, dramatic literature, and technical theatre, students may focus on a particular area of interest through elective selection. All students in the department conduct hands-on work behind the scenes as members of a running crew or working in one of our technical shops. Students in the BA/BS program may also earn elective credit by performing in or serving in leadership or creative positions on any of our mainstage shows, which are mounted in the Meldrum and Babcock Theatres. Students may also propose and stage independent or collaborative projects as part of the Studio Season in Studio 115. During their final year in the program, BA/BS majors take our Capstone Experience Course, New Plays Workshop. During this course, students form companies to workshop, stage, and present a mini-festival of new plays for the public.
