Program Description
The purpose of the PhD Degree in Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) is to train individuals interested in pursuing careers in occupational health for positions such as researchers, academic faculty, or placement in prominent businesses, insurers, and government positions that require doctoral level skills.
All PhD in OEH emphases will be a minimum 40 credit hours for those with an appropriate prior master's degree and 64 for those without a prior master's degree.
Program Admissions Requirements
Completed University of Utah graduate school application and transcripts submitted directly to the admissions office;
note: be sure to apply to the correct program; the computer designation for the OEH-PhD degree is “Occupational & Environmental Health”;
GRE scores, quantitative, verbal, and written, from within the past five years (except for those with a prior US doctoral degree);
TOEFL scores for international students;
Three letters of reference;
Goal statement not to exceed 500 words; and
Personal interview after the application is approved by the graduate school and RMCOEH admissions committee.
In order to accommodate applicants who come from a significant distance, personal interviews can be arranged at a mutually convenient time.
